Ensuring Compliance and Customer Protection in SMS and Calls

With increasing concerns about spam and misuse of SMS and calls, carriers are implementing stricter measures for spam prevention and enforcing acceptable use policies (AUP).

 

To maintain customer trust and safeguard the end-users, various regulations and compliance frameworks have been established. Trust Center (Available for sub-accounts with the country set to the US), offers products that enhance customer engagement through brand recognition.
 

  

This article will guide you through the necessary steps to access Trust Center products and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.

 

Step 1: Gather The Required Information
Before proceeding, ensure you have the necessary information on your Business profile in ProspectFlow. Here are the required fields for the Business Profile:

Business Information

  • Legal Business Name
  • Business Physical Address (Street Address, City, State/Province/Region, Postal Code, Country)
  • Business Type (Sole Proprietorship/Partnership/Corporation/Co-Operative/LLC/Non-Profit)
  • Business Registration Number/Tax EIN and Type (DUNS or Business License)
  • Industry
  • Website
  • Regions of Operations

 

Authorized Representative

  • Name
  • Email
  • Title
  • Phone Number
  • Job Position (Director/VP/GM/General Counsel/CEO/CFO)

 

Within Trust Center, submitting a Business Profile that represents your business, validates your identity within the ecosystem.

 

Note: Use your EIN for business registration to avoid brand registration failures. Do not use a DUNS number (Dun & Bradstreet number).

 

Step 2: Submit Business Profile for Review
After filling in the required information, click "Submit for Review." Your profile will be processed, and the status will change to "In-Review." Approval may take up to 72 hours.

 

 

Step 3: Register your US A2P Brand

  • Click on the "Start Registration" Button
  • Check the brand registration details and click Next.


     
  • Enter the Campaign Use Case and a campaign use case description for example:

    "The purpose of this campaign is to send appointment confirmation reminders to leads who have booked appointments to speak with our coaches from this link [Link to booking page]. These reminders will be sent immediately upon booking to confirm the appointment time, as well as 24 hours and 1 hour before the appointment time."

  • Provide Production Sample Messages and select if the hyperlink and phone number will be shown in the SMS. Here are some examples:

    Account Activation Example
    "Hey Jane, thank you for choosing our service! Your account has been successfully activated. If you did not initiate this, please contact our support immediately.

    Reply with "STOP" if you don't want to hear from us again"

    Appointment Reminder Example
    "Hi [Name], this is a reminder for your appointment on [Date] at [Time]. Please arrive on time. If you need to reschedule, reply with RESCHEDULE. Reply with "STOP" if you don't want to hear from us again"


  • Provide details around end-user consents and opt-ins.

Once all the information is provided in the above 4 steps. Data will be submitted for A2P Profile, Brand, and Campaign Registration and you will receive the success information. Here are some examples:

"Our users opt-in when they book an appointment on our calendars which has this form [Link to your opt-in or Booking Page]
This form incorporates a mandatory consent field that says "I confirm that I want to receive texts and emails from this business." Without doing so, they will be unable to submit the form and proceed with booking their appointment."

 

Step 4: Check the Status of Registrations
Data will be submitted for A2P Profile, Brand, and Campaign Registration and you will receive the success information.

What Is The Pre-Requisite for A2P Standard Registration?

The prerequisite to A2P registration is to create a business profile providing the EIN and additional business registration information.

 

Are There Any Charges Associated with the Low Standard Brand Registration?

Yes, there is a one-time USD 4.41 and a monthly Campaign Fee (USD 1.5 to $11.5 USD). For most cases, we have seen this to be $2/month.

  

What Information Would Be Required from the Sub-Account to Move with the Registration?

You will need a business registration EIN and some additional info like address, website, etc.

 

Is Messaging to Canada or Any Other Countries Also Affected by These Changes?

Currently, Canadian mobile carriers have not announced any plans to introduce registered A2P 10DLC solutions. However, there is a possibility that they may do so in the future.
